Leaders in the Field 2023

New for 2023:  The Leaders in the Field Webinar series will now take place on the First Wednesday of each month at 4PM US Eastern Standard time

Our “Leaders in the Field “First Friday” Webinar series will became the “Leaders in the Field “First Wednesday” Webinar series, with Jay Belsky’s 2023 inaugural presentation, which took place on Wednesday January 4th, 2023.  Emeritus Professor Belsky, who is listed among the top 100 “Greatest Living Behavioral and Brain Scientists” and whose work on parent-child relations and the transition to parenthood is well known to all in our field, graciously offered to share his ideas with us in this series.  His presentation was entitled “Beyond Mental Health: Child Development in Evolutionary Perspective”.  He discussed the utility of an evolutionary perspective—for leading to new developmental insight - by considering two current topics in developmental science whose origins are sometimes decades old but remain underappreciated: (1) Accelerating effect of developmental adversity on biological aging and (2) Differential susceptibility to developmental experiences and environmental exposures.  The presentation was recorded and is available on our site at: https://www.newbornbehaviorinternational.org/leaders-in-the-field-webinar.
