The Brazelton Centre UK has been highly successful in 2019 thanks to our committed staff team of 7 in Cambridge and to our 17 trainers and 2 Master Trainers who have continued to cross the UK, teaching the NBO and NBAS. The Centre has also benefitted from the 2014 London School of Economic report (eprints.lse.ac.uk) and the consequent UK Government funding for perinatal mental health, recognising the importance of the very early days for parents and their babies. In total 839 individuals trained in the NBO with our updated training course, the highest number ever. Highlights of the year include our Centre’s Baby Communication Awareness week in June when we disseminated information about babies’ behaviour and language through illustrations, podcasts, a webinar, professionals’ quotes, videos. Our Forum Day on October 4th and 5th 2019 brought together our Centre team and trainers and afforded a wonderful opportunity to share best practice and learn from each other, with special reference to the NBAS. We enjoyed presentations from Dr Alain Gregoire, Chair of the Maternal Mental Health Alliance UK and Global Alliance for Maternal Mental Health and Professor Elizabeth Meins from the University of York. The year ahead looks to be equally exciting as we welcome Dr Sara O’Curry as our new Director. Sara is a consultant clinical psychologist and did her 2-day training in the NBAS In 2017. Sara is not new to Cambridge as she is currently working at Addenbrooke’s Hospital as the Assistant Head of Paediatric Psychological Services and she is the Family Support Lead for NICU at the Rosie Maternity Hospital.
