New NBO and NBAS research: WAIMH 2021

The 17th WAIMH World Congress Scientific Program featured over 30 NBO presentations, including five NBO-based symposia, a Master Lecture and numerous workshops, oral presentations and posters from colleagues from around the world. These are summarized here. In his opening address as President of WAIMH, Campbell Paul set the tone for the Congress by acknowledging the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic and political turmoil around the world, while still inviting us to celebrate the fellowship and commitment of colleagues who were joining either in person in Brisbane or were – like most of us - participating virtually on-line. The Brisbane Conference theme of sharing stories and community-building in order to help infants live compassionate, creative and productive lives, energized the conference presentations and discussions, leaving us all with a deep sense of gratitude and hope for the future.
